REST. CONNECT. EXPLORE.

That’s the tagline used by Jamie and Michael, the owners of Cascade House Airbnb in Osceola, Wisconsin. They want people “to come to the house and find it a place of refreshment and rest, a place where they can connect with themselves and loved ones, and then go out and explore the beauties of nature and the community.”

Location. Location. Location.

Built in the 1890s, Cascade House is located on the historic main street of Osceola, just three blocks north of the downtown businesses. It’s close enough to walk into town for a meal and shopping, but it’s set in a quiet neighborhood – perfect for a relaxing getaway. The house is also minutes away from the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway and MN and WI Interstate State Parks, plus many other area park systems. There are nearby adventure courses and ski hills, plus ATV and snowmobile trails. This rental is the perfect home base for whatever type of vacation you’re planning.

Amenities

This large house boasts 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and can sleep 9 guests! There are 4 lounging areas, a dining room, kitchen, office, huge foyer, plus a beautiful front porch, and a side porch with a built-in hot tub!

Let’s talk about this fireplace alcove! I’d say we spent a majority of our visit hanging by the fire, either on the two side bench seats or just right on the cozy hardwood floors. Jamie and Michael painted the wall a dark color, which makes the alcove pop. It was definitely my favorite part of the house!

Additional amenities:

The house offers Wi-Fi and a mesh network, so working remotely is convenient and totally doable!

The bathrooms and kitchen have been updated but still maintain their historic charm. They provide everything you’d need to feel at home during your stay.

The owners also took care to make a note to “watch your head” on the header of the staircase, and there are three lights that automatically turn on as you make your way up and down.

We stayed in mid-March and the house was toasty warm with radiant heat and the natural gas fireplace. In the summer, the home is cooled with ceiling fans and A/C units. Plus, it’s just blocks from Cascade Falls and the St. Croix River, so it would be fun to head to the falls for a dip to cool off!

So. Much. Charm!

From the intricately-carved woodwork to the creaky floorboards, this house is full of character and beautiful details. The stained glass windows project rainbows on the staircase in the morning.

All through the house you’ll find detailed door knobs and radiators, curved (historic) window panes, and much more. Plus, Jamie and Michael have a real eye for decor and they’ve added touches like the stacked bookshelves in the office!

The mystery of the missing light fixtures: As you explore the house you might notice that each of the beautiful light fixtures is missing one of its glass globes…what is going on there?? Jamie and Michael have the answer, and you’ll have to book a stay to find out!

Super Family-Friendly

Now that I have a child our style of traveling and vacationing has definitely shifted! Jamie and Michael have made so much effort to create a family-friendly home, because they have kids themselves! There are toys in the little sitting room off the foyer, the den off the kitchen is cozy and has plenty of games, and the best part: one of the upstairs bedrooms has a double/single bunk bed…and a massive closet where kids could build a fort, or a pack-n-play could be set up for a private, short-term nursery!

Whether your next staycation to the St. Croix River Valley is a girls’ trip, a group of couples, or family friends, the Cascade House Airbnb is the perfect place to rest, connect, and explore!
